The local job market has started 2026 off on a strong foot as unemployment continues to fall despite challenging financial conditions facing many B.C. residents and businesses.  Statistics Canada reported that Abbotsford had a major addition to the workforce in January as the total number of employed residents rose by 1,500 people to approximately 91,500.  This is the second month in a row where the city has seen more than a thousand new employees added to the workforce, and puts Abbotsford at its largest number of working residents since last June.
