At least 216 children died in U.S. during first high-severity flu season in seven years

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that at least 216 children in the U.S. died during the most recent flu season — the highest toll in 15 years — as the country experienced around 47 million flu illnesses, 610 000 hospitalisations and 26 000 deaths overall; declining vaccination rates and increased hospital admissions among children are cited as contributing factors
